Australia’s Skills and Training Minister, Brendan O’Connor, has launched Australian not-for-profit business MEGT’s re-entry to the ACT employment region as an Apprentice Connect Australia Provider.
Since 1998, MEGT has supported more than 700,000 apprentices to complete their qualifications, helping with issues such as training contract signups, finding the best suitable Registered Training Organisation (RTO), understanding financial incentives, and ongoing mentoring.
Its re-entry into the ACT market secures MEGT’s place as Australia’s largest single Apprentice Connect Provider.
MEGT serves a total of six employment regions; the ACT, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Perth and surrounds, and outback WA.
It last serviced the ACT region in 2019.
Quotes from the Minister for Skills and Training, Brendan O’Connor:
“Apprentices are a key part of Australia’s workforce and a successful apprenticeship system means a successful and prosperous economy.”
“Apprentice Connect Australia Providers like MEGT play a critical role connecting apprentices and employers and providing vital support.”
“Under our new strengthened model, from 1 July Apprentice Connect Providers will deliver personalised and targeted support to apprentices and employers, to ensure every apprentice has the best possible chance of completing their training.”
CEO Matthew Hick said MEGT shared the Federal Government’s commitment to increasing completion rates for apprentices and trainees in all industries.
“We are proud to have completion rates right across the board which are in excess of the national average”, Mr Hick said.
“Our business is about people, and working side-by-side with them to increase completion rates to safeguard a pipeline of skills for the Australian workforce.
“Employers in a multitude of industries are crying out for qualified workers, and in many cases that begins with providing apprentices and trainees with the support they need to become our skilled workers of the future”.
