Stairworks is a boutique family owned and operated business. We specialise in timber staircase manufacture and installation for residential homes across Melbourne.
We are a close-knit team who loves what we do. Our crew brings passion, precision and a great work ethic to each day.
We are looking for a 1st Year Apprentice to join us. This is a perfect opportunity to gain experience and develop lifelong skills.
You will work alongside our dedicated and friendly young team, including our Director Travis, with more than 20 years of specialist stair experience. We pride ourselves on fine craftsmanship and excellent customer service.
The role will be based at our Bayswater North workshop, but we install stairs across metro Melbourne, so travel for work on residential sites as part of an installation team, or to deliver stairs, will also be required. We car pool to site where possible, particularly if you live local.
The successful candidate will have a positive, mature attitude, strong work ethic and good communication skills. He or she will be punctual, reliable, trustworthy, tidy, physically capable of the demands of the job and most importantly, always willing to learn by following direction and instruction.
We will teach all aspects of the trade, both in the workshop and on site, with a view to setting up the right candidate for a long and rewarding career as a stair builder. We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in learning the trade as part of a team. Formal qualification on offer is the Certificate III in Joinery.
Hours of business at Stairworks are 7.30am-3.30pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional overtime and Saturday work may be available if desired.
Having a current Victorian driver's license and own vehicle to get to work and trade school is strongly preferred, however, we are willing to consider all applicants. A Construction Induction (White Card) will also be required, and we can help the right candidate to arrange this.
Uniform tees and hoodies are provided.
Please include a cover letter listing the reasons why you are interested in the job, and what you think you can bring to the team.
To be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have full working rights.
